2012 Chicago Auto Show Recap

Dodge came out in full force for the 2012 Chicago Auto show, and in case you missed it here are some highlights! Check out the new Dodge Dart and updated Dodge Charger!
Slated to bow this fall, the 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 is the most potent variant of the division’s iconic 4-door muscle car to date. In unveiling the new model at the Chicago Auto Show, Dodge president and CEO Ralph Gilles promised a car that “adds a much larger power band across the rpm range, along with intelligent performance attributes and safety and creature comforts for customers who are passionate about performance driving.”

The 2012 Dodge Charger: A Game Changer

The new 2012 Dodge Charger has taken its place as one of the victors in recent auto shows across the country. With everything car buyers loved about the old Charger updated and revamped, the new Charger promises to be a game changer.

In addition to its updated speed and power, the 2012 model is affordable. Starting at just $26,420, the 2012 Dodge Charge should be an eye catcher to any car enthusiast looking for an upgrade.

Forget about retro, nostalgia stuff. The 2012 Dodge Charger is an impressive, large, rear-wheel drive sedan for today's buyers who want to stand out from the crowd.
Revamped for 2012, the expressively styled, four-door Charger can look like a snarl coming down the road. It can act like a snarling machine, too, especially if it has the new-for-2012, 6.4-liter, Hemi V-8 with 470 horsepower.
Even the base, 3.6-liter V-6 is noteworthy. Mated to a new, eight-speed automatic transmission, it gives the 2012 Charger a federal government fuel economy rating of 19 miles per gallon in city driving and 31 mpg on the highway. That's higher than the 19/28-mpg rating for the 2012 Toyota Avalon.

A Look At The Future: 2014 Dodge Dart SRT4

Although the Dodge Dart just recently became available, a follow-up is already well in the works. Dodge is fine tuning some of the performance features, aerodynamics, and overall look to try to corner the market on affordable performance vehicles. If you like the current model, you will be impressed by some of the speculations of the 2014, as it adds slight improvements to pretty much that makes everything great about the current Dart. Take a look, what do you think of the design?

The base Dart borrows heavily from the Alfa Romeo Giulietta platform, so expect an upgraded version of the Giulietta Cloverleaf's dual-clutch, six-speed transmission to find its way into the Dart SRT4. The Cloverleaf's 1.7-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder probably won't come with it, as it makes only 230 hp. The Dart SRT4 needs to aim higher, since by summer, Ford's Focus ST will hit the streets with a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder making at least 247 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque.
The last-generation Caliber SRT4 made 285 hp and 265 lb-ft from a turbo 2.4-liter, so for the return of the SRT4, expect no less. The all-aluminum, direct-injection, 300-hp four-cylinder engine that should arrive in the long-awaited Alfa Romeo 4C could be a perfect, though expensive, fit. A turbocharged and intercooled larger displacement version of the Dart's Tigershark 2.0-liter might be a better option.
